10th March 2008

A peaceful picture of Lyme Regis' Cobb and Fisherman Cottages taken in September 2004 but Lyme Bay is subject to wild storms in the winter and this month's was one of the wildest of the lot! These pictures come from the webcam site - the webcam (based in the Cottages) went down and as you will see no-one could get out there to fix it!!

The wind was south-westerly which meant the wood on that side protected us from the storm - though there is one large conifer on the edge of the wood, leaning over our telephone wire which is posing a bit of a problem.

The French Lieutenant's Woman stood at the end of the Cobb looking out to sea - but not on 10th March 2008!!
The Cobb dates from the 13th century (when it was wooden) and was built to protect the harbour from the worst of the Lyme Bay storms - normally pleasant to stroll along!
Mudeford Quay - normally where you can sit and eat your fish and chips or use the telescope to look at the view .......
