Bournemouth in November

This is how Bournemouth seafront looks after the grockles have gone. Click on the general view photo to spot the Isle of Wight and Hengistbury Head. Click to enlarge the closeup to see the lucky children with a beach to themselves. This is unusual weather for November and so enjoyable. The top photo has been published on the BBC Dorset web site - look for In Pictures - Your Weather Pictures - Autumn Weather Pictures (and I remember when November was in Winter!). Most of the BBC areas publish local photos and they are really good to look at - no payment I'm afraid!

Midland weekend

We travelled to Brownhills West Midlands to be confronted by this 30ft stainless steel miner. Built to commemorate the mining industry in this area.
This is me and my bruv outside his house. I think the camera caught him just before he made a rude gesture.
On Monday the 3 of us went to Lichfield. This is the cathedral which is in a very ornate Gothic style. Lichfield's claim to fame is that Dr Samual Johnson (lexicographer) was born here. His secretary Bosworth was a bit of a perv', he liked to rub "himself " against trees.
The weather was sunny and warm and we agreed that it was a very pleasant city.
We went to Ironbridge and walked across to the town. The river is the Severn , yes the same one that has the Bore only it doesn't reach this far. We also went to the Blists Hill Victorian town where you can convert new pence into old. You get 2/4 3/4d for £10. 2 pints of mild and a ginger beer cost 1/4 1/4 d.

History Weekend

Hi all . Now we are on broadband, all be it only 570kbps , you will see a bit more of the ABC of Life. Mother and I went to Gloucester last weekend to see more Severn Bores having visited Lacock (NT ) on the way. I think we have seen enough now the last one being very good. Both the ones we saw were about half an hour later than the prediction which made it a bit tedious(BORING!! ) Sorry
We also had a guide tour around Gloucester city centre which is steeped in history and lastly we visited the cathedral where some scenes from the Harry Potter films were shot.

I thought the pics would have the file name under each one so top is the cathedral Lavatorium featured in a HP film, jewellers in Southgate
St Gloucester.Next is me on the loo in the Lockup at Lacock. A general view of Lacock and The lockup at Lacock.

There is a garden centre at Lacock called Whitehall and the grub there is equally as good as Otter Nursery in Devon . I expect we will be going there again ,not just to see the Abbey.
I will soon have the knack of setting this out a bit better.
